P R O F I L E

1951             Born in Reykjavík, Iceland.

1971-73    The Reykjavík Technical College.  DRAFTSMAN

1973-85   Worked as a draftsman for Structural Engineer´s at Fjarhitun hf. Reykjavík.

1985-89   The Icelandic College of Art and Crafts, Reykjavík.  SCULPTURE

1989            Moves with her family to London

1989-2020   Professional sculptor working Internationally, using variety of materials.

1990-92    Chelsea College of Art and Design, London.  MURAL DESIGN with focus on sculpture.

1992            Invited to exhibit her monumental, degree sculpture "Wheel of Progress" at the main entrance to the Design Museum in London.

1992            Exhibition of selected entries, Sir Norman Foster & Partners Gallery, Battersea, London.

1994-95   University of East London.  MA ART IN ARCHITECTURE

1997            A prestigious Bursary Award by the Royal British Society of Sculptors.

1997            Nominated and the 1st winner of The Wybo Haas Award for young British sculptors.

1998 the "David" the Wybo Haas award, bronze, table top sculpture commission.

1998            1st prize winner, The International Greenham Common Sculpture Competition UK.

                    150 participated.

1998 Invited to represent the UK. Folly Art '98 Festival & Workshops, Méréville, France. Artist in residence                     

1999 Winner. The Westwood High School Clockface Competition London. Artist in residence.

1999            MHR - Reykjavík Sculptors Society. Membership.

2000           One person one day exhibition at the Millennium Dome, Greenwich, London. Invited.

2000           Elected to the RBS as an Associate Member (Membership Bursary 1997)

2001-03 Committee Member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors

2001            Nominated and approved by the RBS Fellowship to join their company (ARBS 2000)

2002           Installation and the unveiling of “Core” Indoor water sculpture.  University College London.

                    The British Heart Foundation Laboratories, Rayne Institute,  University Street,  London.

2002           Installation and the unveiling of “Time” Indoor 3D Site Sp. Mural for Westwood High School for Girls London. Artist in residence.

2003 -         Resides from Iceland

2004           The Artist Award from Kopavogur city, Iceland.

2007            The permanent installation of Amigasamon, Abbey House Gardens, Malmesbury.  The home of "The

                     Naked Gardeners"

2008            Sculpture Network, Pöcking, Germany. Membership.

2008            SÍM The Association of Icelandic Visual Artists, Reykjavík, Iceland. Membership.

2009            Artist´s State Grant, Ministry of Culture, Iceland.

2009            MHR - Reykjavík Sculptors Society.

2010             Installation and the Unveiling of "Changes" the monumental Site Specific Sculpture for the Main    

                     Entrance to Greenham Business Park, Greenham Common, Berkshire, England.

2011              One of 15 International Artists selected for Drawing Symposium UK 2011 "Technologies of Drawing" 

                     sculpture network in cooperation with the University of Huddersfield.

2012            The International Exhibition “European Sculpture – methods, materials, poetry” at Edsvik Konsthall,

                     Sweden, selected.

2012             Invited to Exhibit in the SÍM Gallery, The Association of Icelandic Visual Artists Reykjavík Iceland.

2013             "Borrowed View" Gudrun´s first sculpture exhibited outdoors sin Iceland. UNDER THE OPEN SKY

                     Group Exhibition in downtown Reykjavík.

2013             A presentation about my art at DordtYart an art park in Dordrecht, Holland, selected. www.dordtyart.nl

2014             "Absent Core" Gudrun´s second sculpture exhibited outdoors in Iceland. Solo Exhibition in Hallargarðurinn in the

                     heart of Reykjavík.

2015            Invited and selected to exhibit the sculpture Labyrinth in Prince´s Gardens South Kensington London in the RBS Nordic Exhibition

                    SKULPTUR 2015 in an open call, nearly 170 applications came from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. One of

                    17 selected artists, two from Iceland
