Gálgahraun 2012 - Saturday, December 01, 2012

Detail of "GÁLGAHRAUN 2012" my new work in SÍM Group Exhibition "Small scale artwork", Dec. Reykjavík.

Work in progress for the exhibition in SÍM Hafnarstræti - Saturday, November 17, 2012

Group Exhibition in SÍM Hafnarstræti, Reykjavík 30th November to 20th of December. My sculptural installation refers to the lava flow that ran from the askja Búrfell, Hafnarfirði Iceland in 6000 BC a kind and giving neighbour all my life. Búrfellshraun is a place to visit on cold and dark winter days or on bright summers days or nights. This neighbour of mine that is now under a threat has been here for a considerable time and should be allowed to stay on. In days gone by younger lava flows have covered part of Búrfellshraun.

 Blocked View 33 2012 REYKJAVÍK - Saturday, November 10, 2012

The idea for the sculptural installation “Blocked View 33” is a continuation from my previous work Borrowed View 231, 2012. There the installation refered to the Japanese expression „borrowed landscape“ a technique where vistas extend beyond a structure, into the distance. In the case of this new work in progress Blocked View 33, we have the opposite. Completely blocked view across the installation, an influence and a reference to the land and manmade structures closest to the volcanic eruption in Eyjafjallajökull south Iceland early 2010 where millions tons of ash came from the volcano.

Mixed media is going to be used in this outdoor installation like Perspex, mdf, steel-wire-rope and ash from the eruption in Eyjafjallajökull.
